Runway to Hope
Runway To Hope's mission is to serve and provide direct support to the children and families in the Central Florida community who have been impacted by pediatric cancer. Assistance includes but is not limited to research, education, technology and family assistance. Runway To Hope aids these children and their families by partnering with Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Florida Hospital for Children, Nemours Children's Hospital, corporations, local businesses and philanthropists to raise funds and awareness so that progress made locally will benefit all children with cancer, nationally and worldwide. Laura Brown is Executive Editor of Harper’s BAZAAR magazine.
Since joining the flagship Hearst property in 2005, Laura has produced many of the magazine’s most memorable covers, features, and portfolios, having collaborated with directors Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, Pedro Almodovar, and Tim Burton on film and fashion portfolios. She has also produced many of the magazines’s coups: from The Simpsons in Paris to American designers on Sesame Street, to create iconic fashion stories. She has profiled many influential women within the magazine’s pages, including her exclusive interview with Janet Jackson following the death of her brother, Michael, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton, among others. As Executive Editor for the magazine, Laura is responsible for BAZAAR’s covers as well as the publication’s features department. Prior to BAZAAR, Laura was Senior Editor at W and Articles Director at Details.
As the magazine’s public face, Laura was also the host of Hearst’s digital talk show The Look with Laura Brown. For The Look, Laura interviewed folks like Karl Lagerfeld, Allison Williams, Michelle Dockery, and Kim Kardashian, just to name a few. She was a featured judge alongside Iman and Isaac Mizrahi on Bravo's The Fashion Show and appears regularly on programs including Good Morning America and The Today Show. She will be hosting a new fashion web series starting in the fall of 2015.
A native of Australia, Laura grew up in Sydney and worked as Features Editor for Harper’s BAZAAR Australia before moving to New York.
Lauren Thompson has been with NBC Sports and Golf Channel for 6 years, and currently serves as Co- Host of Morning Drive. Prior to her work in the sports world, Lauren graduated with honors from the University of Central Florida. While in College, Lauren became immersed in the entertainment and print modeling scene as a regular in local news segments, nationwide magazines, infomercials, music videos and commercials. She also spent time as a backstage interviewer for a Total Nonstop Action wrestling for Spike TV. As her Twitter account states, Thompson is not only a new Mom, but a lover of "Golf, Glam and Grub", and takes her role as a fashionable female in a male dominated industry seriously...but always says a smile is your best accessory.
Lauren Rowe is an Emmy Award winning news anchor, producer, moderator and host. Most recently she was the video talent and correspondent for the grand opening events at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and field producer and reporter for Kennedy Space Center rocket launches. Lauren was also the Chairman of the Communications Committee for the Transition Team for the Orange County Clerk of Courts. And she led the campaign for a ballot referendum for Orange County Public Schools.
But Lauren is best known for her 13 years as the face of WKMG-TV’s “Local 6 News.” As anchor of the 5,6,7 and 11 o’clock newscasts she was a strategic contributor in daily newscasts and a newsroom leader in helping to make editorial decisions.
Lauren has covered every major event in Central Florida since arriving in 2001. She was on the desk in 2003 during coverage of the Shuttle Columbia disaster, and field anchored the program’s Return to Flight in 2005. Lauren was at the helm of the station’s live, days-long, nonstop coverage of the historic 2004 hurricane season when hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne made a direct hit on Orlando and the coast.
Lauren field anchored every day of the 33 day Casey Anthony Trial. Work for which she received an Emmy nomination. And she had the same assignment during the trial of George Zimmerman.
Shortly after arriving at WKMG, Lauren created the Sunday morning Political and Current Events program, “Flashpoint.” She produced and hosted the show for more than a decade interviewing some of the most powerful lawmakers, celebrities, activists and business leaders in Florida. Lauren herself was named Best News Anchor by the Orlando Business Journal and one of the most recognizable Central Florida Celebrities by the Orlando Sentinel. And in 2012 her journalism peers honored her with an Emmy for Best Anchor.
Lauren is a mentor who hosted what became known as the “Lauren Rowe Internship,” taking one young, hard-working, female University of Central Florida Communications student under her wing each semester. Lauren is passionate about community causes including homelessness. She sits on the board of directors for Heart to Heart, an organization that provides homes for women and children who have suffered from abuse. She has been a member of the marketing committee for the Heart of Florida United Way. And she is an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Her daughter Leah was diagnosed in 2011 at the age of four.
Lauren grew up in Colorado and went to college at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She worked in Pennsylvania and Kansas before landing in Central Florida. Lauren and her husband, Michael live with their two daughters in downtown Orlando.
Melanie Pace is a Wardrobe Stylist, Fashion Expert, Personal Shopper and Fashion Blogger born and raised in Orlando, FL. She has a degree in both Fashion Merchandising and business from Florida State University. Melanie’s first step into the fashion industry was with Anthropologie in the visual merchandising department. After 1 year, Melanie decided to start her own styling and wardrobe consulting business into 2006.
