This Season's Key Denim Trends

November 1, 2016

A perennial street-style favorite, denim has been making a serious splash on the last few seasons’ runways, too. These days, skinny jeans are out, and designers are getting inventive with denim. Here are the styles to watch for fall/winter 2016/17, and how to wear them — you’ll find all of these looks in store at The Mall at Millenia.

Overalls

The perfect outfit for the transitional season. We love 7 For All Mankind’s sexy, dark-denim beauties. Complete the casual-sexy look with Donald J. Pliner kid-suede platform sandals and and a slouchy Urban Outfitters Project Social T.

Embroidered denim

Gucci has been defining our whole darn epoch with its maximalist look in recent seasons, and embroidered denim has been a key element of the style. Pair the iconic tiger-embroidered jacket with Anthropologie’s Eclat midi skirt and Jimmy Choo Medal 85 booties for an A+ maximalist look.

Cropped kick-flare

The cropped flare is a rising star of denim, beloved of stars like Alexa Chung and Emma Roberts — and it’s easy to see why, since the cut shows off your shoes and your figure to best effect. Also featured in this outfit: fashionistas’ top pattern pairing: animal print and stripes. Rag & bone’s crop flare jeans, from Bloomingdale’s, J. Crew’s placed-strip rib T-shirt, Sam Edelman’s Susie ankle-strap sandal.

Miniskirt

The denim mini hasn’t been out of style for 50 years, and this season it’s still a fashion fave. In fall, these beauties are ideal for warmer climates, where we can pair them with bare legs and knee-high boots. Flared jeans

Flared jeans are well and truly back: and if you don’t believe us, check out queen of denim Kate Moss, who’s been living in hers. The key to a great flared-jean look is a skinny tee, tucked in, and a statement belt.
