THE MALL WILL BE TRANSFORMED INTO HOLLY -- SANTA'S WINTER HOME -- AND SPARKLE WITH SIGNATURE EVENTS TO CREATE AN UNMATCHED HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE

11/1/2006

ORLANDO, FL - (November 1, 2006) The Mall at Millenia puts the fun, excitement and wonder back into the season with A Jolly Hollyville Holiday, its merriest celebration ever and an all-new holiday experience for every member of the family.  Like any smart snowbird, Santa will flee the frosty north and take up winter residence in Florida.  The Mall at Millenia will transform into Hollyville, Santa’s home away from home, a winter wonderland straight from the pages of a fairy tale brought to life through an original animated feature film, signature holiday events and visits with Santa himself.  With multi-sensory delights at every turn, The Mall at Millenia is Florida’s not-to-be-missed holiday destination.

Beginning November 17th through January 1st, The Mall at Millenia will sparkle with the most spectacular seasonal décor package ever presented by a retail center in Florida.  Created by renowned Panache Designs, Ltd. of Atlanta, the décor glitters with oversized ornaments in bright, festive colors, whimsical trees adorned in holiday splendor, sparkling stars that surprise at every turn, and the incredible Millenia tree.

At the center of the holiday excitement is a storybook village located in Grand Court where imaginary characters come to life, animated creatures weave a holiday tale, snow flakes sprinkle the ground, giant decorative scenery enchants wide-eyed youngsters, and Santa Claus greets children every day.  An original animated holiday short, displayed on giant LED screens, introduces original, fun-loving Hollyville characters to children of all ages.

On Friday evening, November 17th, 6-7:30 pm, the much-anticipated Santa’s Arrival will be celebrated.  The event promises to be a one-of-a-kind delight.  The outdoor scene for the special effects production show is pure fancy with a light show, pyrotechnics, and snowflakes falling from the sky.  A DJ ignites the fun with an energetic dance party and stage show, while a full cast of strolling performers provide non-stop entertainment, from stilt walkers and magicians to Mrs. Claus, the elves, and an array of Hollyville characters.  Hollyville will come to life as Tommy the Snow Sweep, Madame Crystal, Peppermint and Flurrie delight everyone in the family.  At 6:45 pm, all eyes look to the skies to catch the rooftop arrival of Santa in a magical, enlightening moment.

The event culminates in the debut of the Hollyville animated short, which will run continuously on the mall’s LED screens throughout the holidays.  At the evening’s end, everyone can say hello to Santa starting at 7:30 pm in Grand Court.

Santa’s magical arrival inaugurates a series of signature events that are sure to put the ho-ho-ho into the holidays.  Guests will get into the swing of the season during a very special edition of First Friday on December 1st, 5:30-8:30 pm featuring Michael Andrew and his 18-piece Atomic Big Band.  A favorite among Central Floridians, Andrew will entertain with holiday classics performed in the tradition of popular singers like Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. The show takes place outside the mall’s main entrance.

At 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve, everyone’s invited to join the festivities in a celebratory sendoff, Santa’s Magical Flight as he heads out on his sleigh for a night of gift giving.  Carolers provide holiday music for this fun-filled event.

Santa will be on-site for visits beginning November 17th at 7:30 p.m. and throughout the season during mall hours; candid color photos, sepia-hued black and whites, and CD-Rom images are available for purchase.  Each child visiting Hollyville receives an enchanting gift sure to be a keepsake – a complimentary puppet in the shape of Sir Berry, a Hollyville character.

Holiday music will fill the air on the first three weekends in December (Saturday and Sunday, December 2nd & 3rd, 9th & 10th, 16th & 17th) as talented local school groups perform seasonal favorites at select times in the Orangerie Cafes.

The Angel Tree Kick-Off Event for The Salvation Army begins on Friday, November 17th at 12 noon with an exclusive live broadcast from WKMG Local 6 reporter Candice Coleman.  In partnership with WKMG Local 6, shoppers can make holiday wishes come true for children in need.  Sponsored by The Mall at Millenia and WKMG Local 6, guests are invited to adopt an “angel” from a beautifully decorated Angel Tree located in Orangerie Cafes, with all proceeds benefiting local children.  Angels will be available for adoption through December 16th.
