Orlando, FL. – A week-long celebration of fashion will be presented at The Mall at Millenia during Fashion Week 2008 from October 20 through October 27. Fashion followers will have the opportunity to indulge in cutting edge fashion shows, a chance to meet Fashion Director of ELLE Magazine and Project Runway Judge Nina Garcia, plus get a sneak preview of spring 08’s hottest trends straight from runway shows in Paris, Milan, New York and London.
The event offers in-store activities at participating retailers such as the exclusive 2008 Cruise Collection at Dior, new couture and spring collection pieces at David Yurman and a special appearance by celebrity stylist Mark-Alen Harmon of the Style Network at St. John. The week concludes with spectacular events held in the Grand Court that are sure to make fashion history right here in Orlando!
On Friday, October 26, ELLE Magazine Fashion Director and Project Runway Judge Nina Garcia, will conduct a signing in the Grand Court from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for her newly released book “The Little Black Book of Style.” Responsible for covering the designer fashion markets of New York, Milan and Paris, Garcia is an elite authority in the fashion industry. “The Little Black Book of Style” features arts, iconic women and signature fashions from the past to show that with a little awareness, creativity and some unabashed effort, every woman can unleash her inner fashionista.
The evening shifts gears at 7 p.m. in the Grand Court as Fashion Design and Merchandising students of the International Academy of Design and Technology present their custom collections on the runway in a surge of color, texture, movement and music. The show will conclude with the ‘Project Pink Design Competition’ in an effort to promote breast cancer awareness. Participating students have been given three days to present a spectacular pink ensemble that will be judged by a panel of local fashion experts. In addition, an exclusive sneak preview of spring ’08 trends, just off the runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris will be presented on the Mall’s LED screens.
Fashion Week will conclude on Saturday, October 27 with a fall fashion show in Grand Court at 1 p.m. This heart-pumping show will feature the hottest fashions from retailers like Anthropologie, Arden B., Bebe, Furla and Maxstudio.com. The show will be followed by the exclusive preview of spring ’08 trends on the Mall’s LED screens.
“We are celebrating our 5th anniversary with a week of events that bring the flavor of Fashion Weeks across the world right here to Orlando,” said Brenda Lounsberry, marketing director for the Center.
